Chong Wei in Finals

Wee Chong Wei in finals for malaysia!
I hope he wins gold to get Rm 1 million lol! XD

3 cheers for him ^^

he will meet Lin Dan in the finals.... Go for it !!!!

Steady now!

To whom may concern,

Be steady!
Don't give up!
Everyone is by your side supporting you!
Just watch, we will be back after the holidays.

Had a very shit day. lol. I damn sorry for that guy. I promise i will help him get over with his situation.

Anyways today is specially for someone!
His name is LEE CHONG WEI

Lee Chong Wei ( 李宗伟) was born October 21, 1982 is a professional badminton player from Malaysia. He was born in Parit Buntar, Perak and later moved to Bukit Mertajam, Penang. He received his early education at Jit Sin Primary School (B) and continued his secondary education at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Berapit. He was admitted to Bukit Jalil Sports School then to complete his Form 4 and Form 5 studies. Wong Mew Choo, a Malaysian badminton player, is his girlfriend.
Lee Chong Wei's most well known attribute is his signature forehand cross court smashes and incredible defensive ability. His cross court shots are accomplished by using a heavy angle on his racquet head, and he plays incredible inside slices. He frequently retrieves attacking shots by diving towards the shot with an outstretched racket, then quickly recovering to his feet in time to continue the rally. Not only does he dive to keep a rally going, he also sometimes plays winners when he dives. Even top Chinese shuttler Lin Dan has suffered Lee's defense on countless occasions.

Lee is also known for his smooth and efficient footwork that makes him one of the fastest singles player in the circuit. His strength in the third set (attributed to incredible fitness) and his all around deceptive and accurate strokes are also well known. In terms of his weaknesses he will sometimes make too many unforced errors at inopportune times, get trapped at the back corners of the court, and sometimes has difficulty finishing off rallies once he has gained an advantage.

He's in the road for earning  a medal in the Olympics ^^ Today he will be having a match with Korea's Lee Hyunil today at 6.30 pm.  The battle of the lees' lol Gook luck! Win for Malaysia glory!!!

Finally a hope for malaysia to get a medal in the olympics... ^^

Happy Birthday Dickson!!!

Portrait photography

Lets talk about portrait photography. and hell yeah, everyone wanna look nice inside their own pictures... especially when you the main character.

Wiki defines portrait photography as..

Portrait photography (also known as portraiture) is the capture by means of photography of the likeness of a person or a small group of people, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The objective is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. Like other types of portraiture, the focus of the photograph is the person's face, although the entire body and the background may be included. A portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the camera.

Unlike many other styles of photography, the subjects of portrait photography are non-professional models. Many family portraits and photographs that commemorate special occasions, such as graduations or weddings, are professionally produced and hang in private homes. Most portraits are not intended for public exhibition.

Basically there are only 2 factors that you need to take care of when your taking a portrait photo.

Location

If you don't have or can't create a photo studio, concentrate on environmental portraiture. Show the subject and also his surroundings. These tend to work best if you can enlarge the final image to at least 11x14 inches. In any smaller photo, the subject's face is simply too small. Taking photos that will enlarge well is a whole art by itself. Your allies in this endeavor will be a low ISO setting, prime (rather than zoom) lenses, a tripod, and at least a mid-range digital SLR.

There are two elements to a photo studio for portrait photography. One is a controlled background. You want to focus attention on your subject and avoid distracting elements in the frame. Probably the best portraits aren't taken against a gray seamless paper roll. On the other hand, you are unlikely to screw up and leave something distracting in the frame if you confine yourself to using seamless paper or other monochromatic backgrounds. You don't have to build a special room to have a controlled background. There are all kinds of clever portable backdrops and backdrop supports that you can buy or build. If you absolutely cannot control the background, the standard way to cheat is to use a long fast lens, e.g., 300/2.8. Fast telephoto lenses have very little depth of field. Your subject's eyes and nose will be sharp. Everything else that might have been distracting will be blurred into blobs of color.

The second element of a portrait studio is controlled lighting. With lights on stands or hanging from the ceiling, you get to pick the angle at which light will strike your subject. With umbrellas and other diffusion equipment, you get to pick the harshness of the shadows on your subject (see out studio photography primer). There are some pretty reasonable portable flash kits consisting of a couple of lights, light stands, and umbrellas. These cost $500-1000 and take 20 minutes or so to set up on location. If you don't have the money, time, or muscles to bring a light package to a project, the standard way to cheat is to park your subject next to a large window and put a white reflecting card on the other side. Don't forget the tripod, because you'll probably be forced to use slow shutter speeds.

Stealing a Location

What if you don't have a big open space with diffuse light and a neutral background? Steal one. If you live in the United States, a vast open space with light pouring in from expensive skylights is as close as your nearest art museum or university. With a 200mm lens set to f/2.8, the background will be thrown out of focus. Here are some examples from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and a couple of lobbies at MIT, taken on a cold February day in Boston. Canon EOS-5D, 70-200/2.8 IS lens, handheld without flash.

Lighting

The most flattering light for most portraits is soft and off-camera. A large north-facing window works, as does the electronic equivalent, the softbox (light bank). The Elsa Dorfman Polaroid photo at the top right was taken with two large light banks, one on either side of the camera. Note that there are essentially no shadows.

If your subject is outdoors, an overcast day is best. If the day is sunny, make sure to use a reflector or electronic flash to fill in shadows underneath the eyes.

At right: In a New York loft, light coming from a bank of windows at left. Canon 70-200/2.8 lens on tripod. Possibly some fill-flash. Fuji ISO 400 color negative film.

What if you're in Mexico, the sun is strong, the longest lens that you have is a 50/1.4, and you meet someone who needs a portrait for her Web page? The results will not be happy (left). On the other hand, if you're photographing people for whom bright mountain sun is their natural environment, the portrait can be acceptable (right; Olympus E1, 14-54/3.5 zoom at f/7.1 and 37mm (74mm equiv.)).

Lens

Lets talk about a lens today...

ok... wiki defines lens as.....

A photographic lens (also known as objective lens or photographic objective) is an optical lens or assembly of lenses used in conjunction with a camera body and mechanism to make images of objects either on photographic film or on other media capable of storing an image chemically or electronically. While in principle a simple convex lens will suffice, in practice a compound lens made up of a number of optical lens elements is required to correct (as much as possible) the many optical aberrations that arise. Some aberrations will be present in any lens system. It is the job of the lens designer to balance these out and produce a design that is suitable for photographic use and possibly mass production.

There is no major difference in principle between a lens used for a camera, a telescope, a microscope, or other apparatus, but the detailed design and construction are different.
A lens may be permanently fixed to a camera, or it may be interchangeable with lenses of different focal lengths, apertures, and other properties.

ok in other words lens is a very important item in a camera. Without lens, light cant come in into the cam... Without light u can see anything. Zzzz your talking about taking photographs without light? 0.0 what a joke!

Anyways, you all know that lens cost is sometimes higher than the body.. lol! and yeah, through my personal experience, u can differ a 18-55 mm lens and a 18-200 mm lens. a 18-200 mm lens cost over 1.5k (at least) and a 18-55 mm lens u can get it for free if u buy a DSLR. lol..
you may say that its only the zooming that is expensive for 18-200 mm but not only that, the depth of view is much much more nicer than the 18- 55 mm coz your lens is longer.

So, why do professional photographers buy 10k over lens? Haha cause they are good! lame le....

Wee!

Wee the school's photography club is going to buy its 3rd DSL ^^
The Canon EOS 450D
Wee Everyone had worked hard to make profit for the club.. and finally we have RM 2600 and thnx to teacher's loan we can buy this DSLR.
for more info on how much it cost... please go to gavin's place and ask him yourself ^^

Lets see the review of this magnificent DSLR.

The twelve megapixel EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi). On the surface a very similar camera to the EOS 400D, however there are a range of significant improvements; twelve megapixel CMOS sensor, 3.0" LCD monitor, Live View with both AF modes (contrast-detect and passive), 14-bit processing and RAW, spot metering, improved AF, 3.5 fps continuous shooting, a larger viewfinder, SD/SDHC storage and a new higher capacity battery. All in all a fairly impressive range of usage oriented improvements and refinements.

The EOS 450D features:

12.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor ( more colorful and nice)
Canon’s EOS Integrated Cleaning System ( This is a technology from Canon... Its good for your pictures ^^)
3.5 frames per second ( wakaka fast! )
3.0” LCD with Live View shooting ( Yay! no more looking through the viewfinder
9-point wide-area AF system with f/2.8 cross-type centre point ( 9 point wide area auto-focus? wow! )
Picture Style image processing parameters (Cool technology by Canon)
DIGIC III image processor (Another cool technology by Canon)
Digital Photo Professional RAW processing software ( Yeah... more RAW pictures.... ^^)
Compact and Lightweight body (Finally, no more heavy DSLRs' )
Fully compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites ( Maximum flexibility)

Canon EOS 450D is built for better photos

The EOS 450D is designed to make photography a fluid experience for photographers of all levels and experience. Housed in a compact body that weighs less than 475 grams, the camera features an improved grip design that provides a natural, ergonomic fit with the user’s hands. A large, bright viewfinder makes image composition clearer and more comfortable. The menu system inherited from professional EOS cameras uses a simplified tab structure that does away with scrolling. It includes a user-defined My Menu tab for instant access to frequently used settings.

Several custom functions are available to optimise the quality of photos captured in a range of situations. Highlight Tone Priority boosts the dynamic range at the highlight end, providing better tonal detail from wedding dresses, cloudy skies and other bright objects. The new Auto Lighting Optimiser corrects brightness and contrast during image processing, while improving skin tones in portraits by ensuring correct exposure for faces. Photographers can also enable additional noise reduction for shots captured at high ISO speeds.

in other words... this is a great cam ^^ Cheers!

Today i really understand why the headmaster is always not in wan...

CCA in Chung Ling

This is a post for our foreigners about how the CCA system works in our school
Firstly, Everyone must join 3 co-curricular clubs. One Uniform Unit (B), one Society (P) and one Sports Club (S). It is compulsory for every student to have at least 3 CCA clubs. But in addition, you can take one more CCA club which is Service (T) or you can take an extra CCA club between (P) and (S). But the maximum recommended  clubs u can join is 4.

And yeah..... Its a busy life for the students in our school IF you are active in all clubs and holding high posts . Although its compulsory for every student to be active in CCA, but many dont care about it.

CCA is actually counted as a subject in school. So Active in CCA can boost your results. If u participate tournaments through your CCA, you will get extra marks.

As for me, i'm a normal member in Scouts [my uniform unit (B)], a treasurer in my chess club [my Sports club (S)] and  a VP in photography club [my Society (P)] .

Today went for AGM for the photography club. and yeah i was elected to become the vp. Anyways, after that my family and I went to eat some traditional Nasi Kandar! It was terrific !

Heh! This is how the store looked like! Its old but the food is damn nice.
Another picture of it

Georgetown ( the capital city of Penang ) has been acknowledged as world Heritage Because of these old buildings... ^^ maybe i will find some articles next time.
The old buildings of penang.

As for now, i'm going for badminton ^^ post next time !
